Frequently Asked Questions

There is no question that it is too big or too small for our veterinary team.
Below are some answers to our most common questions.

We Proudly Serve the Pets of Chickamauga, GA, and Beyond

At Chickamauga Veterinary Clinic, we get a ton of interesting questions from pet parents. Below are some common FAQs that might help answer any questions or concerns. Please feel free to call us at (706) 558-2025 for any other concerns you might have about your pet.

Are you accepting new patients?

We are always happy to accept new clients and patients.

How long have you been open?

We opened on August 2, 2021.

How many doctors do you have?

We currently have one full-time doctor.

What are your scheduling policies?

Appointments are strongly recommended to decrease wait times. A new client scheduling fee of $50 is required to book your appointment and is applied to the final cost of your visit. There is a 48-hour no-call, no-show policy, in which your $50 deposit is non-refundable. If you allow ample time for
rescheduling or cancellation, your deposit is refundable.

Do you offer boarding or grooming services?

We currently do not offer boarding or grooming.

Do you see pets other than cats or dogs?

At times, we may have a relief doctor who is able to treat small pocket pets and exotic pets. We do not currently have a full-time doctor to provide this service. However, our current doctor may be comfortable with certain species, such as rabbits, hamsters, and rats. You may always call to see if we
can be of assistance to you.

Do you accept walk-ins?

While we do accept walk-ins, we strongly recommend making an appointment, if possible, to decrease wait times.

What is the fee for an office visit?

We do not have a separate office visit charge. A basic exam with an appointment is $55. A basic exam with a walk-in is $70.

Why does my pet have to see a doctor for flea and tick medications?

A current veterinarian-patient-client relationship is required for a veterinarian to legally administer vaccinations or prescribe medications to a pet. This means they must, by law, be examined within the calendar year. This ensures your pet is healthy enough for a prescription medication. All parasite
preventatives that we carry in the clinic are prescription medications and require a current exam by the doctor.

Do you offer ear cropping?

We do not offer ear cropping.

Do you perform C-sections?

We are happy to assist in planned C-sections. Emergency C-sections may not be available based on time and staffing.

What do I do if I have an emergency and you are not open?

We recommend the following emergency clinics for after-hour emergencies:

Veterinary Care and Specialty Group
3201 Broad Street, Chattanooga, TN
(423) 591- 0270

Regional Institute for Veterinary Emergencies and Referrals
2132 Amnicola Hwy, Chattanooga, TN
(423) 698-4612

Animal Emergency and Specialty Center
6393 Lee Hwy, Chattanooga, TN
(423) 822-8304

Do you do orthopedic surgery?

We do not currently provide orthopedic surgery services. This includes fracture repair, ACL repair, or luxating patella repair.

Do you do house calls?

We do not currently offer house calls.

Do you require appointments?

We do not require appointments, but they are strongly recommended.

What is the typical wait time for walk-ins?

Walk-in wait times may vary from 30 minutes to 3 hours depending on how sick a pet may be, diagnostics that are required, and treatments that are needed. Appointments are seen as a priority, and walk-ins are worked in between our regularly scheduled appointments. For this reason, an estimate for wait time is not always available or accurate. If your pet is sick and cannot wait for an appointment, you may always choose a drop-off in place of waiting in line as a walk-in.

Do you offer any payment plans?

We accept CareCredit.

Do you perform surgery?

We perform routine soft tissue surgeries on Tuesdays and Thursdays mornings. Walk-ins and appointments are not available during this time.

Does my pet have to stay overnight after surgery?

No. Our surgery patients are discharged the same day to recover in the comfort of their homes with their families.

Why does my pet have to see a doctor for a Rabies vaccine?

A current veterinarian-patient-client relationship is required for a veterinarian to legally administer vaccinations or prescribe medications to a pet. This means they must, by law, be examined within the calendar year. This ensures your pet is healthy enough for a vaccination. At times, you may find a
vaccination clinic in which an exam is not required. These clinics are offered through the USDA in order to decrease the spread of Rabies, which is deadly to humans.

Do you perform declawing on cats?

We do not perform this procedure.

Do you offer AI?

We do not perform or offer AI but are happy to work with breeding pets in regard to reproductive health. We currently offer progesterone testing, pregnancy ultrasound, and pregnancy x-rays.

Do you perform dentals?

We perform routine dental prophylaxis and extraction procedures on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. We do not currently have dental radiology capabilities, but we hope to be able to offer this in the near future.

Where are you located?

We are located at 101 Wilder Road in Chickamauga, GA. We are conveniently located at 5 points across from Chickamauga City Hall, Circle K, and The Grind. We are located in the former Cohutta Bank.

Can I drop my pet off if I don’t have time to stay for their visit?

We are always happy to offer a drop-off appointment.

Do you offer multi-pet discounts?

We do not offer multi-pet discounts, but rather, we do offer built-in discounts with our yearly packages for dogs and cats. We also have promotional offers throughout the year for certain surgeries, such as cat neuters as well as dental cleanings.

What parasite preventions do you sell in office?

We stock Simparica Trio, Interceptor Plus, Credelio, Bravecto, and Proheart 6 and 12. We are happy to sign outside pharmacy prescriptions as well if we do not carry a product of your choice in the office.

Do you offer senior or military discounts?

Because we aim to keep our prices as low as possible and offer built-in discounts in our yearly packages, we, unfortunately, do not offer senior or military discounts.

Does your staff stay overnight if my pet is hospitalized?

Unfortunately, we do not have any staff available overnight. For this reason, if a pet is sick enough to require hospitalization, we recommend transferring to an overnight facility.
